There are two files associated with this DRYAD submission:

1. PAPWbinary.csv - This comma-delimited file contains microsatellite data for all 411 individuals from 18 populations of Phlox amabilis and P. woodhousei that were surveyed with five microsatellite loci. Because of mixed ploidy levels in these species, these microsatellite data were scored as presence-absence data, where the alleles at each microsatellite locus were treated as multiple independent dominant loci, and each allele (or locus) was scored as present (1) or absent (0) in each individual. The file is in GenAlEx format and shows the number of loci, number of individuals, number of populations, abbreviation for and number of individuals in each population, number of groups for AMOVA, and number of individuals in each group. The "Sample no." column heading indicates the unique identifier for each individual. The "Pop" column heading indicates the population to which each sample belongs. Microsatellite allele sizes treated as loci are listed at the top of each presence/absence column. Missing data are indicated by "-1".

2. PAPWdiploid.csv - This comma-delimited file contains microsatellite data for 144 diploid individuals from 6 populations of Phlox amabilis and P. woodhousei that were surveyed with five microsatellite loci. The file is in GenAlEx format and shows the number of loci, number of individuals, number of populations, abbreviation for and number of individuals in each population, number of groups for AMOVA, and number of individuals in each group. The "Sample no." column heading indicates the unique identifier for each individual. The "Pop" column heading indicates the population to which each sample belongs. "M28", "M33", "M68", "M98", and "M113" column headings indicate the microsatellite locus, and allele sizes for each individual at each locus are listed. Missing data are indicated by "0".
